Maybe I'm just not getting it, but it seems to me that Platoon has nothing to say about war that Apocalpyse Now handn't already. This film even stars Charlie Sheen, who's father was in Apocalypse Now. Platoon is an extremely well-crafted motion picture with a great cast, but I just didn't think there was enough of a story to warrant two hours of film. The musical theme to the film, while haunting, gets irritating after a while. It is an essential film, though, that you must see at some point in your life. Oliver Stone wrote and directed it, based on his own experiences in Vietnam. Once you watch it that one time, though, just leave it alone.
