About a year before this album's release, Warren Zevon was diagnosed with Mesothelioma, and only given a few months to live. He used those last months to gift the world with one more album. Given that back story, The Wind is a difficult album to listen to. Just take a look at the song titles, and you'll see that The Wind has a much more melancholy tone than prior albums. So, although it's a great album, as is to be expected from Zevon, it's one you should only listen to if you want to hear an incredible talent who knows he's at the end of his life.
