Upon my writing of this review, this is the only Dark Tower book I've read. I've heard the series is amazing, and I sure hope The Gunslinger is just as Stephen King describes it in the 2003 edition. He says, and I'm paraphrasing, that it feels like a false start to the series. It exists, and it's necessary, but it's not a great representation of what's to come. I sure hope that's true because although I enjoy most of whatever Stephen King writes, The Gunslinger felt as though it had no focus and went nowhere. I still enjoyed reading it, and I'm anxious to read more of the series, but as far as introductions go, King could have done much better.
