Fans have been wanting a Han Solo spin-off film for decades, so of course, when they finally got one, they nitpicked the hell out of it. Long story short, if you go into this film not expecting a whole lot, and just go along for the ride, it's a swashbuckling good time. Alden Ehrenreich channels Harrison Ford perfectly, and he's a charming young rogue. Donald Glover also does a great job channeling Billie Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. The film plays out like a classic Expanded Universe Han Solo novel; we're dropped into the middle of a great action sequence, just another one of Han's many adventures, before eventually settling down into the film at hand. There are a few surprises along the way, and if you just let go, you might just find yourself enjoying it. Just think of it as a rollicking good little adventure flick, and you shouldn't be disappointed.
