I could have reviewed Born to Die and Paradise as two separate albums, as they were originally released separately, but they complement each other really well, and it's hard for me to separate them from each other in my mind. So, since this "Paradise Edition" exists, I figured it was an easy out to just write one review for the both of them. Disc One consists of the album Born to Die with a few bonus tracks, and Disc Two is the the album-borderline-E.P. Paradise. Born to Die was the first album from Lana Del Rey, and it's an incredible sounding, ethereal experience. Lana Del Rey has an unforgettable, distinguished voice, and her style is heavily influenced by David Lynch. She once referred to herself as a "gangsta Nancy Sinatra," and that's quite an apt description. Once you start listening to her music, you can't stop. The standout highlight on this set would be her stunning performance of "Blue Velvet."
