The original screwball comedy, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World suffers only from its unnecessary length. Even in its general, most common short version, it's still over two and a half hours. Five men witness a man's death, after his car goes flying off the road. His dying words tell them about a buried treasure. They then set off in pursuit of the money, involving more and more people along the way. Meanwhile, there's a detective, played to perfection by Spencer Tracy, who may just have more devious thoughts in his head than capturing the pursuers. Plenty of cameos and crazy antics make this film worth watching over and over again...if you have the time.
