Suspension of disbelief is essential for one to enjoy this charming fantasy from Tim Burton. It's riddled with problems, but there's just so much heart, artistry, and charm poured into it, that one can't help but love it. Johnny Depp plays the title character, an artificial man who was never given proper hands by his creator (none other than the legendary Vincent Price). Edward lives in a gothic mansion in an otherwise picturesque town that seems to have been lifted straight out of the 1950s. At first, everyone in the town loves Edward and all his abilities with his strange hands, but as time goes one, feelings and tensions begin to shift. Boosted with a typical, yet unforgettable score by Danny Elfman, Edward Scissorhands is a one-of-a-kind film that should be a part of everyone's library.
