This early film from Ingmar Bergman shows very little of the creative genius the world would eventually love and cherish. It centers around a young sailor who returns home after seven years, remembering his past, particularly his rough relationships with his father and a young woman. There are no real likable characters in this film, and it's not really worth watching unless you're a die hard Bergman fan.
