Armada may not be as thoroughly engaging and well-written as Ready Player One, but it's still a good book that fans of Ready Player One should find plenty of joy in reading. It's full of pop culture references, of course, and the plot itself feels almost like a combination of War Games and The Last Starfighter. A high school boy is whisked away to fight a war against aliens from another world, and it all seems exactly like a video game he plays all the time. It's a fun read that doesn't always work, but just go with it.
