An American in Paris is a nearly perfect musical. The leads and supporting actors are all fantastic, and the film has many memorable moments, from the great opening to the breathtaking finale. However, it does seem a bit cheesy and forced in some areas. The breathtaking finale, for example, just comes out of nowhere and doesn't really seem to fit on. Once it begins, though, you can't help but be overwhelmed by it. Overall, this film of a struggling painter finding love in Paris is a great experience.
