A Lesson in Love is a delightful, mostly comic effort from Ingmar Bergman. It's not quite up to the brilliance of Smiles of a Summer Night, but it shows the brilliant filmmaker working in that direction. Eva Dahlbeck and Gunnar Bjornstrand play a married couple whose relationship is on the rocks. The film introduces the characters in delightful, deceptive ways, and delicately balances comedy with serious reflection. It's a great film that more people should seek out and watch.
