A HARD DAY'S NIGHT

1964 *** 88 mins.

Maybe I'm just not getting it. Most film and music critics feel this to be an amazing motion picture of the highest order. I don't see it. I find it overlong, tedious, and annoying at times. The music is good, of course, I mean...it's the freaking Beatles. They just seem to amble along through an hour and a half of celluloid with little to no purpose. The character of Paul's grandfather is annoying. Sure, there are some funny moments, and seeing the boys on the big screen is something of a delight, but there has to be more than just a gimmick to power a feature-length film. For fan's only.
